Colorado quarterback Isaac Wilson didn't try to hide anything after a difficult first start. He accepted responsibility for an offense that opened Saturday with promise, then spent the rest of the night leaving the defense unsupported in a 29-7 loss to No. 12 Texas Tech.
Wilson finished 26-for-44 for 290 yards and an 8-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Williams, but his three interceptions helped Texas Tech turn Colorado's 7-3 halftime lead into 26 unanswered points. The Buffaloes also lost a possession on a second-half pass attempt by Williams, giving them four interceptions in the final total.
"I did not make smart decisions tonight," Wilson said afterward. "I need to stop trying to be more than I am. We've got dogs all over the field, and I need to get
it to them."

"I felt confident, guys felt confident in me. I gotta turn off the mistakes of trying to do too much. I got guys like Joe & DMo that can make plays for me. Taking responsibility..."

Wilson accepts the blame
Wilson's first drive as Colorado's starter showed why the staff made a quarterback change. He helped direct a 75-yard touchdown drive, completing passes at every level and finding Williams for the score. Colorado led 7-3 at halftime, while Wilson threw for 165 yards and kept a clean stat line.
The game shifted after halftime. Colorado's second offensive play resulted in Pollock intercepting Williams on a designed receiver pass. Wilson later threw two interceptions in the third quarter, and his fourth-quarter end-zone throw became the easiest pick-six in college football history.
" I'll take a lot of blame," Wilson said. "We kept stalling out. We were rolling. I felt like we were rolling up and down the field all day. We just need to get in that box [end zone]."
Wilson also acknowledged the debt the offense owes Colorado's defense, which held Texas Tech to 315 total yards and 15 points until the closing minutes.
"I've still got to apologize to them," Wilson said. "They’re getting stops within our own 30-yard line. They’re denying PATs and they’re just causing havoc."
Quarterback decision remains open
Sanders declined to name the issue directly after the game, but his message was unmistakable.
"We got one glaring problem," Sanders said. "We got to play better at one specific position. That's it."
Colorado will use its bye week to evaluate Wilson, Julian Lewis and Kaneal Sweetwyne. Wilson produced more downfield than Colorado had in recent weeks, though the turnovers showed the risk of holding the ball and chasing plays after the structure breaks down. Sanders said someone has to "step up and take hold of it and get it done," leaving the starting job unsettled as Colorado prepares for Utah.
