The Colorado Buffaloes (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) return home after two straight road losses, including a loss in their Big 12 opener, to face arguably the top team in the conference, the No. 10 Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-0, 1-0 Big 12).
Colorado showed more fight against the Bears, but self-inflicted issues, notably penalties, and bad special teams play doomed the Buffs in a winnable conference game. Texas Tech is undefeated but looked beatable in its final nonconference tuneup against Sam Houston, and it stayed in a one-score game longer than it probably should have. The Red Raiders also escaped with a win two weeks ago against Houston.
Still, Texas Tech is the defending Big 12 champion and a top-10 team for a reason. Boulder will be rocking for homecoming,
but Saturday is by far the toughest game of Colorado's season so far.
An upset win would be the perfect scenario, but a clean and competitive game is the minimum after two straight weeks of sloppy football. The Buffaloes are a double-digit home underdog, highlighting how both teams are trending in opposite directions.
