The Colorado Buffaloes are 1-0 coming off an impressive season-opening win over Georgia Tech and now host Weber State Saturday afternoon in their home opener.
Colorado is a heavy favorite against the Wildcats, and one key matchup to watch in Week 2 is the Buffaloes' running game against Weber State's run defense.
X factor and key matchup for Colorado vs. Weber State
Weber State (1-1) is coming off a game against Southern Utah where they allowed an alarming 368 rushing yards and 514 total yards. Colorado meanwhile rushed for 183 yards on 48 attempts, showing the increased emphasis on a productive rushing attack.
If Weber State wants any chance at remaining close, the Wildcats will need to slow down Colorado's running game. Expect offensive coordinator Brennan Marion to test the Wildcats early, and
if their run defense struggles as it did in Week 1, Weber State will have a long day at Folsom Field.
Once again, Buffs fans should expect a rotation at running back, with running backs coach Johnnie Mack saying Wednesday that a rotation is likely, but game-specific.
"It’s just a feel of the game…," Mack said. "It may be a two-man rotation depending on the game. We're not predicting there will be five guys going in every week."
