Joseph Williams has already produced a season that places him among a select group of Colorado footballreceivers, with five regular-season games still to play.
The junior has 46 receptions for 643 yards and five touchdowns. He is the 21st player in program history to reach or exceed those totals in all three categories during a season, and he ranks third in the Big 12 in catches and receiving yards.
Williams enters Saturday's home game against Kansas State after a career-best performance at Oklahoma State, where he caught nine for 135 yards in Colorado's 57-24 loss.
Williams keeps producing for Colorado's passing game
Williams had eight catches for 130 yards before halftime in Stillwater, helping Colorado take a 24-23 lead. He added one reception after the break as the Buffaloes' offense stalled.
"We just got to finish, man. Just the little things, little details," Williams said afterward.
His production has earned national recognition. Williams was added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list earlier this month, putting him in consideration for the award honoring college football's top receiver.
Award recognition follows a longtime goal
Williams said he's pursued the Biletnikoff since he began playing receiver.
"I always told my mom, like, I want to win the Biletnikoff," Williams said. "That’s a big dream for me. I’ve always wanted to win that, ever since I started playing receiver."
He has also emphasized building connections with every Colorado quarterback, including working through missed opportunities with Isaac Wilson after practice.
That preparation has helped make Williams a dependable target. Against Kansas State, Colorado will again need his production as it looks to end a five-game losing streak.
