Three straight losses in similar fashion will usually hurt your national standing, especially in weekly power rankings. However, once you've already hit your low point and other teams keep falling, your place craters.
In USA TODAY Sports' 1-138 re-rank of every FBS program, Colorado, which has certainly fallen the last few weeks, surprisingly moved up two spots in this week's re-rank. The Buffaloes now rank No. 79 and are the last-ranked team in the Big 12.
Surrounding the Buffs in the latest rankings are other struggling Power Four programs, including South Carolina (No. 75), California (No. 77) and Purdue (No. 82).
The Big 12 is well represented at the top of the rankings, with Texas Tech at No. 9, Utah at No. 10, and BYU at No. 11. Houston is close
behind at No. 19.
After Colorado's Week 6 bye, the Buffaloes host No. 12 Utah at Folsom Field, promising an even tougher matchup than when Texas Tech came to town.
The top five of Georgia, Texas, Notre Dame, Miami and Ohio State remained the same.
