Colorado football unofficially ended fall camp media availability on Thursday, with the game-week schedule set to begin on Monday, Aug. 31, and Deion Sanders scheduled to give his weekly press conference.
Defensive coordinator Chris Marve and offensive coordinator Brennan Marion spoke about their units ahead of the Buffaloes' Week 1 matchup against Georgia Tech.
Marve discussed his familiarity with the Yellow Jackets' coaching staff and how his defense is more about the style of play rather than the play call itself.
"I know exactly what [Brent Key] believes and what he's preaching to his guys," Marve said. "...We fundamentally believe it's not the play call; it's the play style. Football is about matchups. Defensive football is about play style. We want
to make sure we're putting the right people in the right position and playing the right way."
How Colorado's defense looks after fall camp
Marve added that his defense improved in every facet during camp, and that his main goal of creating an identity was achieved.
"Identity forticiation has certaintly occurred," Marve said. "I think at every level of the defense there has been incremental progress."
Marve on competing against Marion's offense
With such a creative playcaller like Brennan Marion calling the plays every day at practice, Marve believes his unit could not be better prepared for the upcoming season.
"We challenge each other pretty good; iron sharpens iron," Marve stated. "We're popping all the hard-ask questions. You never know what you're going to get."
Marion's perspective on Georgia Tech
"I'm really excited for the game. I know a lot of the guys on the staff over there," Marion said. "I know those guys are gonna play hard… To be a real guy, you got to beat a real guy."
Marion says his goal for Week 1 is for his offense to play a clean game and not have players in bad positions. He has been preparing like a made man for the Yellow Jackets, trying to gain every little advantage he can.
"To stalk your opponent, to know everything about them and every call they've ever made," Marion continued.
Marion on Julian Lewis' fit in the Go-Go offense
"We're going to always manipulate the offense to what the quarterback can do well," Marion said on Lewis in the Go-Go. "Don't expect Ju to be running power read on 3rd and 1, but he's fast enough, he's quick enough."
Marion all but confirmed that Lewis will be Colorado's starting quarterback entering Week 1 of the 2026 season.
