The Colorado Buffaloes are 2-0 after a blowout Week 2 win over Weber State, but you would not know that if you were to look at social media throughout the game.
Colorado's offense scored 52 points, but everyone believed more was on the table. CU's defense struggled early in the game, giving up 14 points in the first half and 21 points overall. Special teams were a mess aside from Elliot Arnold's impressive kicking, and penalties were a major issue.
It is always better to learn from a win rather than a loss, and that is what the Buffaloes must do before a difficult Week 3 test against Northwestern.
Here are some of the best social media reactions from Colorado fans and media members after a blowout, yet messy victory.
Unacceptable special teams play throughout the game
Colorado today on special teams:
- 2 delay of games on punts - burning a timeout to avoid delay of game on a FG - 2 pre-snap procedural penalties - 1 fumble - 3 KOR’s tackled inside your own 15 yard line - 1 holding call Hire a special teams coach, please. @CUBuffsFootball

Hopefully Boo Carter or Jah Jah Boyd is the answer
Colorado needs to find a reliable option at nickel/slot.

Penalties need to be cleaned up
That’s Colorado’s 10th penalty today.

10 penalties for 92 yards and counting.
Impressive yet sloppy outing from the Buffs today.
Impressive feat for the Colorado kicker
Elliott Arnold hits a 52-yard FG. Ties for the 4th-longest FG by a Colorado freshman in school history.

Colorado 45, Weber State 14, 8:09 to go in the 3rd #cubuffs
Micah Welch sets Coach Prime era milestone
Micah Welch is over 100 yards. First 100-yard rusher for Colorado Alex Fontenot at USC on Nov. 11, 2022. That ends a streak of 40 consecutive games without a 100-yard rusher, by far the longest for CU since WWII. #cubuffs

What does Buff Nation think?
This is why we need to stop playing as many FBS - FCS games. One a year per P4 team. Two nonconf P4 opponents. This isn’t even Varsity-JV. It’s like Varsity-Middle School.

Pass defense was not pretty

Makari had a rough day

Could be the answer
Jason Stokes at corner and Boo at slot is the go moving forward.

That’s what I wanted it to be from the beginning.
Weber State was impressive despite the scoreline
This Weber St QB is incredible! I’ll be keeping an eye on them all year
— Overthink Buffs (@OverthinkBuffs) September 12, 2026
Is this the way?
There needs to be an official special teams coach!

They’re playing trash for the second week in a row!
CU needs better performance against Northwestern
Buffs defense needs to tighten up.

I’m not gonna overreact. But I’m also going to to overreact
