After sweeping their three-game Group D pool play and securing an automatic bid to the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, Caitlin Clark and USA Basketball (3-0) will face Hungary (3-1) Thursday morning in their first knockout-stage matchup.
While Team USA has been idle since Monday, Hungary needed to defeat Japan (1-3) 84-63 on Tuesday to qualify for Thursday's contest. Hungary is led offensively by Minnesota Lynx forward Dorka Juhasz, who is averaging a double-double with 15.3 points on 50.0% shooting and 11 rebounds over their four games played so far.
Given the mixture of both young and veteran stars on the USA Basketball roster, Clark has yet to crack the starting lineup in any game. However, the former Hawkeye has served
quite admirably as one of the premier options off the bench, averaging 8.0 points, a team-leading 6.3 assists, and 2.7 rebounds across 21:54 of playing time per game.
