After a dramatic 16-13 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series victory over Iowa State on Saturday, Iowa football maintained its momentum as it rose in the AP Top 25 poll.
Thanks to the Hawkeyes' gritty and hard-nosed victory over the Cyclones, where kicker Caden Buhr etched his name into the Cy-Hawk Series history books with a game-winning, 42-yard field goal, the program climbed three spots to No. 18 nationally.
Like the US LBM Coaches Poll, the biggest increase in this week's AP Top 25 poll was Michigan, which re-entered the rankings and rose nine spots to No. 19 after upsetting then-No. 11 Oklahoma in Ann Arbor.
The biggest decrease in the AP Top 25 poll this week belongs to Oregon, who plummeted 15 spots to No. 21 after the Ducks were stunned in Stillwater
by Oklahoma State, 39-31.
Overall, the Big Ten has nine programs represented in the latest AP Top 25 poll, with seven listed in the Top 25 and two receiving votes on the outside.
Overall, seven Big Ten teams are ranked this week. Defending national champion Indiana is the highest-ranked Big Ten team at No. 4. Both Washington and UCLA are also receiving votes.
