After an upset-filled, chaotic weekend of college football, Iowa (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) has once again risen in the latest AP Top 25 poll.
Despite a Week 7 bye, the Hawkeyes rose two spots to No. 15 nationally. Iowa climbed due to losses from Texas, Mississippi State, and Missouri.
At the top of the rankings, Georgia's 27-24 loss against Auburn made it back-to-back weeks where the nation's top-ranked team got knocked off. Oklahoma beat then-No. 1 Texas last week. It also marks the first time that unranked teams upset No. 1s in consecutive weeks since 1990.
BYU topped Notre Dame on Saturday night, 28-24, marking the first time since 2017 that the Nos. 1 and 2 teams lost in the same week. No. 1 Alabama lost to Auburn and No. 2 Miami lost to Pittsburgh
on Thanksgiving weekend in 2017.
As a result of the chaos and thanks to its 43-35 double overtime win over Florida State, Miami is the new No. 1 team. It's the first time the Hurricanes have been ranked No. 1 since 2002. BYU is ranked No. 2, its highest ranking since its 1984 national championship season.
Six Big Ten teams are inside the updated AP Top 25 rankings, led by No. 3 Ohio State. The Buckeyes topped Indiana, 19-15, on Saturday. Indiana dropped just one spot to No. 6 nationally.
No. 9 UCLA, No. 15 Iowa, No. 16 USC, and No. 24 Northwestern round out the Big Ten teams in the rankings. Oregon is the lone Big Ten team outside the top 25 receiving votes, with the Ducks earning 79 points.
The Hawkeyes return to action on Saturday, Oct. 24, when they travel to face Minnesota (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) at Huntington Bank Stadium for the annual battle for the Floyd of Rosedale trophy.
