Though Iowa men's basketball (1-0) started its 2026-27 season opener slowly, the Hawkeyes used a dominant second half to cruise to a 76-54 win over Lipscomb (0-2) at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Tuesday night.
First-year guard and forward Jaidyn Coon had arguably the most impressive night, posting a team-leading 12 points alongside six rebounds and one block in 19 minutes off the bench. Transfer guard Ty'Reek Coleman followed closely with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
With the Hawkeyes showcasing their skill set en route to a victory in front of a passionate Carver-Hawkeye Arena crowd, here are some of the best reactions from fans and media to the Hawkeyes' season-opening performance against Lipscomb on Tuesday night:

Trevin Jirak has been a catalyst for Iowa's offense. He really helps keep the Hawkeyes in flow with his passing ability and decision-making.

Good win for the Hawks even with a lot to clean up. Coon is a future stud. Koch and Sage are the proven studs. Go Hawks
