Iowa suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, falling at home to the Ohio State Buckeyes, 31-14.
The Hawkeyes are now 4-1 (1-1 Big Ten) and ready for a West Coast trip and a short week. Iowa battles Washington (3-2, 0-2 Big Ten) on Friday night at 8 p.m. CT.
Iowa ran for just 39 yards against the Buckeyes and the Hawkeyes also lost the turnover battle for the first time this season. Ohio State forced two takeaways and Iowa had none.
After its loss, Iowa falls four spots to No. 18 nationally in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.
Indiana is the highest-ranked Big Ten squad at No. 5 nationally. Ohio State is next in line at No. 6. Oregon at No. 13, USC at No. 17, and UCLA at No. 22 round out the other Big Ten squads inside the latest rankings.
Nebraska, Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Minnesota are all receiving votes.
