After the Los Angeles Sparks waived her on Saturday, former Iowa women's basketball guard Kate Martin signed a multi-year deal with the offseason league Unrivaled.
Martin averaged 6.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in 13 games last season for Breeze BC, where she tied her Unrivaled career-high with 12 points against Hive BC on Jan. 9.
In her first season with Unrivaled in 2025, Martin averaged 8.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game in six games with Laces BC. Martin recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in eight minutes of play against Phantom BC in her first-ever game on Jan. 18, 2025.

As for the 6-foot guard's WNBA future, it's uncertain right now. Teams will have just a handful of games left after the WNBA season resumes following its pause for the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.
If Martin can't join a squad before the season ends, an impressive showing in Unrivaled during the offseason could boost her chances of making a WNBA roster next season.
