A month ago, it would've seemed unlikely. Now it's a reality. Iowa has a quarterback named to a national list following a big-time conference game.
Fourth-year signal caller Hank Brown was named to the Davey O'Brien Award Great 8 List on Monday morning. The 6-foot-4 quarterback completed 21 of his 35 pass attempts for 227 yards and two touchdowns in the Hawkeyes' 20-19 comeback win over Michigan. That included a 16-yard touchdown pass to Reece Vander Zee on the final play of the game to seal the victory.
With the honor, Brown joins the midseason watch list for the 2026 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. The national Quarterback of the Week winner will be announced Tuesday.

On the season, Brown is completing 68% of his passes for 700 yards and five touchdowns. He's led Iowa to a perfect 4-0 record and an almost unanimous top-15 ranking. He'll look to continue his success against Ohio State on Saturday.
ESPN's "College GameDay" will be in attendance ahead of the top-15 Big Ten showdown on Saturday. It marks the first time in 20 years that "GameDay" has come to Iowa City.
Kickoff between the Hawkeyes and Buckeyes is set for 2:30 p.m. CT with the game airing on CBS.
