The Iowa football team was a big benefactor of the college football chaos in the newest USA TODAY Sports 1-138 re-rank.
The Hawkeyes
got to sit back and watch the rest of the college football world duke it out in one of the craziest weekends of all time. Five of the top 10 teams in the US LBM Coaches Poll lost, including the top two teams in the country. With all the chaos, there was a lot of movement in the newest rankings.A new edition of the USA TODAY Sports 1-138 re-rank was released on Monday after Week 7 of the college football season. Despite having a bye week, the Hawkeyes rose two spots to No. 12 in this week's rankings. Their Week 8 opponent, Minnesota, is at No. 46.
Iowa now finds itself as the fourth-highest-ranked Big Ten team in the rankings,
with everything to play for. Sitting at 5-1, the Hawkeyes control their destiny when it comes to the College Football Playoff. If they handle their business in the back half of the season, they'll firmly be in those conversations.
Ohio State, Miami, BYU, Georgia, and Notre Dame make up the top five in this week's re-rank.
The Big Ten also sees Indiana at No. 6, UCLA at No. 9, and USC at No. 15.
