After years of behind-the-scenes work, Caitlin Clark and Nike finally released the former Hawkeye's signature Caitlin 1 shoe Thursday morning, along with another ad featuring both the three-time WNBA All-Star and actor Mark Lane III.
The latest ad, which premiered on Nike Basketball's social media accounts, featured child actor Mark Lane III in what appears to be a park basketball court, saying that Clark's stellar basketball skills are overcomplicated by the national media when she is just playing the game she loves.
"I mean, she's just plain offensive, and some people find that offensive. Which honestly, I find offensive. But look, I'm not trying to get defensive here. She is though. She's so mean, it's nice. But she's also just nice. You know
what I mean? Dang, people complicate everything," Lane says.
The 30-second advertisement finishes with Caitlin Clark randomly appearing on a park bench beside the court after Lane III drains a behind-the-back shot following his speech. Sitting with a book titled "How to Make It Far" in her hands, Clark says, "You should post that."
While only the "Caitlin Blue" and "Warning Code Yellow" were part of the Caitlin 1 release on Thursday morning, the ad features Lane III wearing the "Purple Venom" colorways, which will be released later this fall/winter.
