This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for — Penn State is finally getting to face a Big Ten rival this weekend. The Nittany Lions welcome the Wisconsin Badgers to Beaver Stadium this weekend as they look to maintain their flawless record.
They have a good chance to do so, but Badgers safety Matthew Jung will do everything in his power to make sure that doesn’t happen. He emerged as a great run defender last season, as evidenced by his 49 tackles, but now he’s finally adding some ball skills to his repertoire.
He already had a pass breakup heading into his team’s Week 3 matchup with Eastern Michigan, and then he intercepted a pass last week. Jung is become a solid all-around safety who can play the run and the pass, so Matt Campbell and his staff
need to keep an eye on him.
Quarterback Rocco Becht hasn’t thrown any interceptions yet this season, but it could happen this week if he’s not careful. He’s been able to heave the ball down the field in the first three weeks, so he’ll need to reel it in and be much more calculated with his throws and opportunistic with his deep shots.
The step up in talent from Buffalo to Wisconsin cannot be overstated, and the Nittany Lions need to be ready for it. If they aren’t careful, Jung could wreck the game and disrupt the smooth season that Penn State has been having so far.
