Penn State is desperate to get a win this week but it will be far from easy. USC is coming to town on Saturday for a White Out game, and they are looking to get back on track after a loss to the Oregon Ducks and a narrow escape against Washington this past weekend.
One of the main reasons for the Nittany Lions getting blown out by Northwestern was the duress that quarterback Rocco Becht was under. He was pressured for much of the game, and that made it difficult for him to step into throws and have clean throwing windows.
It won’t get any easier for him this week, with Trojans defensive end Luke Wafle looking to wreck the game. He only had one sack in his first three games, but he’s become a key component of his team’s defense in the last two
weeks with three sacks.
The true freshman has all the makings of a superstar, standing at 6-6, weighing 265 pounds, and owning some impressive pedigree. Wafle was the No. 1 edge rusher in his class as well as a top ten prospect among all positions.
He made numerous prestigious All-American teams during his senior year of high school and figures to be in contention for performance recognition this season too. He is playing like one of the best edge rushers in the country right now, so Becht needs to be prepared for the challenge.
The Nittany Lions were under pressure far too much last week. Expect to see double teams on the line of scrimmage, extra tight ends on the field, and running backs staying in for pass protection.
