ForPenn State's Tony Rojas, just returning to the team after last year's devastating injury is a big plus. Any preseason accolades are just an added bonus. Still, with the way they've been piling up for him, Penn State fans sure should be excited for way more than Rojas simply being back. After being named to the Comeback Player of the Year watch list, Rojas was also added to the Hispanic Player of the Year watch list. While not the most prestigious award in college football, it is still indicative of Rojas' proud heritage.
The Hispanic Football Hall of Fame, founded by Ron Rivera and Anthony Munoz, started the award last year, with Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza earning the first award. Now, Tony Rojas could be the second straight Big Ten player
to earn the award. Last year, Rojas was primed for a breakout campaign, as he was the second leading tackler on the team before he suffered an injury in the fourth game of the season. Now, in a new look squad, Tony Rojas is the only returner and will be tasked with quarterbacking the defense as several key transfers look to make the transition to Big Ten football.
Rojas is not the only player from the Big Ten on this list, as the conference boasts six other players on the list. Notable names include Washington QB Demond Williams Jr., Ohio State CBDevin Sanchez, and Oregondefensive back Peyton Woodyard. This is now Rojas' third nomination to a preseason watch list, after Comeback Player of the Year and LOTT Impact award nods.
