For yet another week, the US LBM Coaches Poll saw one of its top teams take a fall on the football field. And that means another mild shakeup in the updated coaches poll following the events of Week 9. While most of the action was relatively tame among the top 25 teams in the coaches poll, Ohio State's loss at USC and a couple of close calls by Miami and Indiana led some voters to rethink their perspectives on the current college football season a bit.
Miami holds the top spot in this week's US LBM Coaches Poll after finding a way to pull away from an upset bid at North Carolina in Week 9. Ohio State's fall to No. 10 helps Georgia move back up to No. 2 in this week's coaches poll after the Bulldogs took care of Florida in Atlanta.
No. 3 Indiana
and No. 5 UCLA remain in the top-10 of this week's coaches poll. Other Big Ten teams joining Indiana, UCLA, and Ohio State in this week's US LBM Coaches Poll are No. 17 USC, No. 10 Iowa and No. 23 Northwestern.
Here is the updated US LBM Coaches Poll following the results of Week 9.

College Football Playoff rankings begin this week
The US LBM Coaches Poll will continue to be updated weekly for the remainder of the season, and a national champion will be awarded the coaches trophy at the end of the season. But the start of November also means we are about to start seeing the College Football Playoff selection committee get to work with the release of its updated weekly rankings. These are the rankings that will ultimately be reworked every week from scratch and used to determine the 12-team College Football Playoff field at the end of the season.
Moving forward, we will note the playoff rankings of teams where applicable and compare and contrast the coaches poll with the rankings of the College Football Playoff selection committee. The first playoff rankings are scheduled to be released on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Up next for Penn State
Penn State will head to the West Coast for a Big Ten road game at Washington on Saturday, Nov. 7. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (12:30 P.T.) and the game will air on FS1. Penn State snapped a four-game losing streak this week with a 31-17 win at home over Purdue. Washington used a late fourth-quarter rally to stun Nebraska in a defensive battle in Lincoln. Washington needs one win to become bowl-eligible. Penn State is 4-0 all-time against the Huskies dating back to 1921.
