The good vibes just continue to flow through Happy Valley. Penn State cruised to an easy victory over Marshall this past weekend and saw a couple of its Big Ten rivals go through the motions, which boosted the team’s odds to win the conference and making the College Football Playoff.
Despite the long-term implications that Week 1 could have, it doesn’t do much for the Nittany Lions at the present moment in terms of standings in the nation. The US LBM Coaches Poll released its first revised list of the top 25 teams in the nation, and Penn State came in at No. 16.
This is an improvement for the Blue and White, but a marginal one, moving up just a single spot from this offseason. They do, however, jump ahead of the Michigan Wolverines, who were ranked
one spot ahead of Penn State on the initial poll.
The Big Ten teams ahead of the Nittany Lions include the Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Indiana Hoosiers and the USC Trojans. It’s been a slow but steady climb for Penn State as it adjusts to all the changes that have taken place over the last year. They’re bound to continue ascending in this poll if they can keep playing at the level they did in Week 1.
