The words edge talent and Michigan go hand to hand. When you think of the Wolverines program, you think of the Brandon Grahams, Derrick Moores, and Aidan Hutchinsons of the world. Now, Michigan fans will also remember the name John Henry Daley. And in a Big Ten matchup where both teams are looking to get right, expect for Penn Statefans to become acquainted with him as well. While Daley will only have one year with the Wolverines, he is certainly making it count.
Transferring in fromUtah and following coach Kyle Whittingham, Daley has established himself as one of college football's most fearsome defensive players. Most impressively, he has been able to translate well in both the Big 12 and the Big Ten, which is something that Penn State is finding
hard to do, especially offensively. Still, the only thing that separates Daley from being heralded as one of the great names in Michigan history is health. Weirdly enough, he may not even play in this week's game as he sustained a lower body injury last week against Minnesota. If he is not on the field, the Wolverines look completely different defensively.
While the record doesn't reflect the overall play of Michigan's defense, Daley is the true embodiment of what it wants to become. He leads the team in sacks and pass rush win rate, proving that he can be an emotional leader in helping this squad. Against a team like Penn State, where he may actually be familiar with several players who played against him in the Big 12, it just creates a unique advantage for a player who's always in attack mode.
