It has been a struggle for Penn State since conference play began. It started the season 3-0, but that record has quickly shifted to 3-4, with the team on the verge of a seismic collapse.
The Nittany Lions will face the Purdue Boilermakers this weekend as they try to get their first win in well over a month. Although Purdue is much tougher than some of the teams the blue and white beat earlier in the season, its record is identical to Penn State.
That should bode well for the good guys, as well as their 17-3-1 all-time record against Purdue. The Nittany Lions have won 17 of the last 19 matchups in the series, and they are on an 11-game winning streak since 2005.
They should also feel good about the fact that the games between these two teams usually
aren’t close, with Penn State winning 49-10 in the last meeting between these two teams. That was a game where both quarterback Drew Allar and tight end Tyler Warren had career days.
The former had one of the most efficient games of his career, completing 17-of-19 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns. Warren flexed his versatility in the 2024 matchup as well. He caught eight passes for 127 yards and a touchdown, and he also ran the ball three times for 63 yards and another touchdown.
It was anoffensive barrage by Penn State that we can only hope that this iteration of the team emulates.
