Penn State football is back this weekend after a bye week. Its opponent, the Purdue Boilermakers, also had a bye week, so both teams should be rested and inspired to win with matching 3-4 records.
Since the Nittany Lions were on a bye week they didn’t have much of a chance to impress anyone. Their score on ESPN’s Football Power Index raised to 11.9, a 0.2-point increase from last week, but they still fell two spots on the list.
Just like last week, their chances to win the Big Ten and to make the College Football Playoff are both at 0%. One of the saving graces of the index is that it expects Penn State to win at least six games this season, giving the program a 93.8% chance of making it to a Bowl Game.
The season has been spiraling out of control
for weeks now, but the Nittany Lions have a chance to turn the tide this Saturday against Purdue. If they can’t get back in the win column, then making a Bowl Game becomes that much more difficult.
