Penn State is heading back home in Week 3 after a successful business trip to Philadelphia to take down the Temple Owls. It was an opponent the Nittany Lions had an extensive history with, but now they go right back to playing a team that is completely foreign.
The Buffalo Bulls are coming to town for the first time since 2019 and just the third time this century. They have only played Penn State four times total and have had little to no success, losing the last three games in the series. The lone win for the Bulls came in the first game between these two teams 126 years ago!
Penn State and Buffalo don’t play often, but it’s usually a rout by the former whenever they do line up across from each other. The Bulls have lost by double digits in every
single game the two schools have played this century. The Nittany Lions won 45-13 in the last matchup, with quarterback Sean Clifford throwing for 279 yards and four touchdowns on the day.
Wide receiver Jahan Dotson was the star among the skill-position players in that game, hauling in four passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns. One oddity was that Penn State carried the ball just 22 times total despite winning by 32 points.
These two teams don’t know much about each other, so this latest installment of the story should be an interesting chess match. Still, it should be a comfortable victory for the Nittany Lions against an overmatched opponent.
