Penn State's basketball roster is a mix of some experienced returners, but a lot of transfers and international risks. It is a huge gamble for a team not necessarily expected to contend in the Big Ten this season but also an experiment that could come together in a unique way. Today, we take a look at one of Penn State's recruits down low in freshman Serbian Aleksandar Zecevic.
Preseason Player Profile
- Hometown: Prokuplje, Sebia
- Height: 6-9

- Class in 2026-27: Freshman
Recruiting Rankings
Another one of Mike Rhoades' international recruits, Zecevic did not have a traditional rating coming into the collegiate ranks. He is the fourth member of a predominantly international class of freshmen.
Career Stats
Most of Zecevic's career highlights stem from his time in the Spanish U22 league, playing for Surners Bilbao. He averaged around 10.8 points per game, 5.4 rebounds, and
1.0 assist. He shot well on his two-point field goal attempts, most importantly, making 62.6 percent in the 25-26 season. He also had 10 double-digit games in Spain, with a career high of 26 points.
Two weaknesses are his free-throw shooting and his 3-point shooting, though, where he was only 55.6 percent from the stripe and 17.6 percent from the 3-point range.
Projected role in 2026-27
Zecevic enters a crowded group of elite big man talent, but could factor into what could be a heavy rotation of players. Chances are combined with players like Prkacin and Juric, Zecevic will just be another big body down low that will be a primary paint option for the bench unit. His efficiency in that area of the court could space the floor as well for some of Penn State's elite perimeter shooters. If Zecevic can expand his passing range from the low block, chances are he could be the big man of the future for the Nittany Lions.
Random Fact
Aleksandar Zecevic will be wearing an unconventional jersey number when playing for the Nittany Lions: No. 77. It is the number he wore playing in Spain.
