For the most part, it was a good week to be a road team in the Big Ten. A total of 6 road teams won this weekend in Big Ten play, leaving just 2 teams to be able to defend their home turf. UCLA, Oregon, and Iowa were among the road victors this weekend to remain in the hunt for a spot in the Big Ten championship game at the end of the season, while Ohio State suffered a potentially playoff-bursting loss at home.
UCLA jumped out to an early lead at Minnesota, but the Gophers battled back to push the Bruins into the fourth quarter. UCLA would pull away to ensure they remain the last undefeated team left standing in the Big Ten. And with top-ranked Miami stumbling on the road at Notre Dame, the Bruins are one of two undefeated teams left in the FBS
(Utah is the other after a massive victory at home against BYU in the Holy War).
Perhaps the most notable development came with Ohio State getting run over at home by Oregon. The Buckeyes' promising season has come crashing down after back-to-back losses to USC and Oregon by a combined total of 25 points, and nobody forgets how close they were to losing at Indiana before that. The Buckeyes have lost three games this season and face an uphill battle to return to the College Football Playoff with time running out to make a case without starting quarterback Julian Sayin.
Here's a quick look at the Big Ten scoreboard for Week 10.
