LSU football and Clemson will meet in Tiger Stadium in less than 72 hours. Toe will meet leather, and another LSU season will be underway. This one is different, though.
New excitement surrounds the LSU program as head coach Lane Kiffin readies for his LSU debut. Fans will get their first look at a roster that includes over 60 new players, including anticipated LSU debuts from safety Ty Benefield, quarterback Sam Leavitt, and five-star freshman Lamar Brown.
Most predictions have LSU winning, and Bill Connelly's SP+ agrees. Connelly's model has LSU as a 10-point favorite, matching the Vegas spread exactly.
LSU has a significant talent advantage, and the Tigers get the benefit of home-field advantage. Meanwhile, Clemson is unranked for the first
time since 2011 and has plenty of questions, especially with a new QB taking over the offense.
This isn't a must-win for LSU, but Kiffin and Co. can't afford a loss after all the hype around LSU this offseason. If LSU can't come out and get a Week 1 win, momentum will build as the Tigers approach SEC play.
