LSU football took a hit in every poll after its 32-24 loss to Ole Miss in Week 3. An SEC slate loaded with ranked opponents awaits the Tigers through the rest of 2026, including a top-25 matchup with Texas A&M in Week 4.
Despite the loss, the Tigers remain in the College Football Playoff picture. On3's Andy Staples put LSU at the No. 8 seed in his most recent bracketology after the Week 3 slate. They would face No. 9 seed Texas Tech, with the winner moving on to No. 1 Texas.
LSU can only afford one more loss if it wants to remain comfortably in contention for the College Football Playoff. The Aggies, who are on the outside looking in per Staples, enter Week 4 in desperation mode after a loss to unranked Kentucky on their home field.

Other SEC teams in Staples' bracket include No. 2 seed Ole Miss and No. 4 seed Georgia. Alabama and Florida are two of the first four teams out. LSU faces the Crimson Tide and the Longhorns in November.

Per FanDuel, LSU's odds to make the CFP are +115. The odds took a hit after losing to Ole Miss, but LSU remains firmly in the playoff picture, especially if the Tigers can get a win this week.
