LSU football fell in the Week 3 AP Poll after suffering its first loss of the 2026 season.The purple and gold checked in at No. 10, down three spots from the start of Week 2.
The Tigers lost to Ole Miss 32-24 in head coach Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford. They faced a large deficit at the half but scored 14 points in the third quarter to tie the game. The Rebels, backed by a hostile crowd, scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter then intercepted Sam Leavitt on a fourth down at the goal line to end the game.
Ole Miss passed LSU on the most recent poll, climbing four spots to No. 4. It ranks third among SEC teams behind No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Georgia with LSU is fifth in the conference. Alabama climbed two spots to No. 8 while BYU also
passed the Tigers to round out the top-10 at No. 9.
LSU faces another ranked test in Week 4. Texas A&M comes to Baton Rouge fresh off a loss to unranked Kentucky. The Aggies fell 14 spots to No. 23 and enter desperation mode with the Tigers. The losing team in Saturday's matchup suffers a major blow to their College Football Playoff hopes.
