The SEC football standings shifted again in Week 8. Contending teams across the SEC faced must-win games to stay alive in the playoff race, while other ranked squads had a chance to beef up their resumes and make a statement.
A week after upsetting Alabama at home, Tennessee went on the road and lost to South Carolina. After their second loss, the Vols have little margin for error the rest of the way. In Austin, Texas kept its playoff hopes alive with a 34-27 win over Ole Miss. Texas jumped out to a first-half lead before Ole Miss roared back in the second half. It wasn't enough to down the Longhorns, though.
Texas and Ole Miss both figure to be CFP contenders as we enter the final stretch of the regular season.
Lane Kiffin's LSU Tigers went on the road and picked up a dominant win over Auburn, as LSU won its first road game since October of 2024. Here's a look at the updated SEC standings after Week 8.
