LSU football has played five games. Lane Kiffin's Tigers are 4-1, just about where we expected them to be at this point. LSU's lineup looks a little different than it did in Week 1. Injuries, along with typical early-season shuffling, have adjusted the Tigers' depth chart, especially on offense.
The biggest shift was the loss of star tight end Trey'Dez Green. Green suffered a knee injury in Week 3 and has missed LSU's last two games. Green is expected to miss all of October, with a chance to return in November.
Up front, the offensive line has stayed mostly the same, but there's been some tinkering at left guard. At running back, Dilin Jones remains RB1, but there's been some movement down the depth chart.
Let's take a look at LSU football's updated
offensive depth chart through five weeks.
Quarterback
No surprises at quarterback. Sam Leavitt remains LSU's QB1. It's clear that Landen Clark won the QB2 job and USC transfer Husan Longstreet is LSU's QB3.
Running back
Wisconsin transfer Dilin Jones is LSU's feature back. He earned the job in the spring and hasn't looked back. Down the depth chart, though, the lineup isn't as consistent. Stacy Gage was LSU's RB2 to start the season, but that role belongs to Harlem Berry now, who rose from RB4 in recent weeks.
Wide receiver
Eugene Wilson, Jackson Harris, and Winston Watkins have emerged as LSU's top-three wide receivers, though Watkins is coming off a rough game where he dropped two touchdowns. Jayce Brown and Tre Brown both produced at their previous stops, but haven't seen much action with the first-team in recent weeks.
Offensive line
Bo Bordelon began the year as LSU's starting left guard, but Tennessee transfer William Satterwhite has started the last two games in that position. The position battle there is ongoing, and Bordelon still saw time with the starters, despite not starting.
At tackle, Baylor transfer Sean Thompkins is LSU's first off the bench. He'd probably enter at right tackle or left tackle, if called upon.
Tight end
This is the position where LSU has suffered the biggest loss, with Trey'Dez Green out for a significant period. In Green's place, Oregon transfer Zach Grace has gotten most of the reps. LSU moved wide receiver Roman Mothershed to TE to get another receiving threat at the position. Mothershed scored his first touchdown in an LSU uniform in the win over McNeese.
