LSU football took care of business in Week 4 by blowing out Texas A&M 35-6 in Baton Rouge. Despite the positive result, the Tigers fell one spot to No. 11 in the AP poll. It is the first time in 2026 they are outside the top 10.
LSU's ranking in the most recent poll reflects more of the results of other games around the country. Voters rewarded Florida for upsetting a top-four team in Ole Miss. The Gators shot up 13 spots to No. 8 while Ole Miss fell five spots to No. 9. Texas A&M, which suffered its second-consecutive loss, fell out of the top 25 entirely.
LSU remains within contention for the College Football Playoffs. Plenty of ranked tests still await the Tigers in conference play, including No. 1 Texas and No. 7 Alabama. After a non-conference
game in Week 5, the Tigers travel to Kentucky, then host No. 16 Mississippi State.
McNeese travels to Baton Rouge for a night game on Saturday. The Tigers hope to get good news on the injury front by then for multiple critical players. Quarterback Sam Leavitt, despite delivering an impressive performance against the Aggies, limped throughout the game. Linebacker Whit Weeks headed to the locker room in the second half with crutches and a walking boot.
