LSU baseball added a player to its 2028 high school recruiting class. Dexter McCleon Jr. announced via a post to social media on Thursday that he is committing to LSU. He is the fourth player to choose head coach Jay Johnson and the Tigers.
McCleon is a two-way player as a right-handed pitcher and outfielder. Perfect Game ranks him as the No. 5 overall player in the 2028 recruiting cycle. The outlet reports a fastball in the upper 90s with a slider and changeup to go along with his "outstanding raw bat speed and easy power to all fields."
A native of Suwanee, GA, McCleon attends Buford High School. McCleon will help LSU's 2028 class climb the rankings with four commitments. The Tigers finished 2026 and 2027 with the top-ranked recruiting classes
in the country.

The Tigers may struggle to get McCleon to campus, but he remains one of the best prospects in the 2028 class. His dad, Dexter McCleon Sr., played 10 years in the NFL and won a Super Bowl with the St. Louis Rams during the 1999-2000 season.
