LSU football and Lane Kiffin get a much-needed bye Week this Saturday. But after the open date, the Tigers welcome the Alabama Crimson Tide to Baton Rouge on Nov. 7.
Vegas released its initial betting line for the Tigers vs. Tide, and LSU is the slight favorite. FanDuel has LSU favored by 3.5 points with a moneyline of -160. The total is 52.5. LSU is rarely the betting favorite in this series, but the market sees these teams on even footing right now. LSU's 3.5-point spread is essentially the advantage it gets from playing at home.
LSU has played eight straight weeks and dealt with significant injuries. The bye week is much needed for Kiffin's group. LSU got a little healthier last week, welcoming back star tight end Trey'Dez Green.
Linebacker
Whit Weeks left the Texas A&M game in Week 4 and is yet to return. His status for the Alabama game remains unclear, but LSU could use Weeks' talent vs. the dual-threat ability of Alabama QB Keelon Russell.
This game is close to a must-win for LSU. The Tigers already have two losses, and it will be tough to make the playoff with a 9-3 record. But if LSU can beat Bama, get a ranked win under its belt, and build momentum, LSU has a chance to win out and finish the regular season 10-2.
