LSU football was Week 1's biggest winner. The Tigers made a statement to the college football world and are absolutely a College Football Playoff contender. LSU's 51-10 win required a team effort, and the Tigers were recognized by the league office, with three LSU transfers earning All-SEC honors.
Quarterback Sam Leavitt was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week, while left tackle Jordan Seaton and defensive end Jordan Ross were named the Offensive and Defensive Linemen of the Week.
Leavitt shook off an interception thrown on the first possession of the game to the tune of 343 yards of offense (230 passing, and a career-best 113 rushing yards) and scored three touchdowns. Leavitt ran for a pair of touchdowns and hit Winnie Watkins for a 32-yard
touchdown.

Seaton paved the way for an LSU offense that racked up over 600 yards of offense and a school-record 38 first downs. He did not allow a sack and helped LSU's rushing attack average 5.3 yards per carry on 58 attempts. As a team, LSU had over 300 yards passing and rushing in the same game for the fifth time in program history.

Ross made the biggest splash for a defense that made life miserable for Clemson's offense. Ross returned an interception of Christopher Vizzina for 30 yards and a touchdown. He finished with four tackles, a sack, two TFLs, and was credited with a quarterback hurry.

LSU signed the top-ranked transfer portal class in the nation. Kiffin is dubbed "The Portal King" for a reason. There are always questions when this many new faces are on a roster, but the performances of Leavitt, Seaton, and Ross show those concerns aren't there with this LSU team.
