The Atlanta Dream defeated the Washington Mystics 92-77 to open the WNBA playoffs. Game one of the best-of-three series marked Angel Reese's first-career playoff game. The former LSU women's basketball star played a major part in the victory.
Reese recorded a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down a team-best 12 rebounds. She played 30 minutes and added two steals, an assist, and a block. The forward dealt with a lengthy Mystics team, including Kiki Iriafen, Michaela Onyenwere and Lauren Betts.
The Dream trailed by as many as 11 points and went into halftime down. Reese completed a three-point play to kick off an 11-point second-half showing as her team made a comeback. The Mystics host game 2 on Wednesday as they look to keep their
season alive.

Reese played with the Chicago Sky, which drafted her at No. 7 overall in 2024, and didn't see the postseason. The Dream traded for the six-foot-four forward and she immediately elevated the team. Reese is averaging a career-best 16.4 points and a league-best 12.1 rebounds per game.
