LSU football and Mississippi State renew one of the SEC's oldest rivalries on Saturday. After a two-year hiatus, LSU will face Mississippi State in Tiger Stadium.
The programs met for 80 straight seasons, from 1944 to 2023. That made it startling when Mississippi State wasn't on LSU's schedule in 2024 and 2025. The old SEC West foes don't have a rivalry to the level of Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss, LSU vs. Ole Miss, or LSU vs. Alabama, but the volume of meetings makes this a storied series.
The two-year break was the first two-year stretch where these teams didn't play since the 1920s.
All time, LSU has controlled the series with a 76-38-3 record. LSU has been particularly dominant since 2000, going 21-3 against the Bulldogs.
Mississippi State
has spent much of its years ranking near the bottom of the SEC, and this is only the fourth time LSU and MSU have met both as ranked teams. The last time that happened was in 2018, when No. 5 LSU beat No. 22 Mississippi State 19-3.
LSU should like its chances facing State in Baton Rouge. LSU is 50-20-1 vs. Mississippi State at home.
LSU vs. Mississippi State will be broadcast on ESPN and kick off at 11 A.M. CT.
