LSU football lost to Alabama on Saturday evening, falling to 6-3 in Lane Kiffin's first year. After the loss, LSU is now ranked No. 22 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, down seven spots. This is the lowest LSU has been ranked at any point this year.
A new No. 1 leads the poll. The Georgia Bulldogs are back in the top spot after an emphatic win over Ole Miss and Miami's loss. The Hurricanes are down to No. 6 after falling at Notre Dame.
After Georgia, the rest of the top five is Utah, Notre Dame, UCLA, and Indiana. LSU's next opponent, Texas, was ranked No. 8 after beating Missouri. Tennessee, also on LSU's remaining schedule, is ranked No. 9. With two top-10 teams left on the schedule, LSU faces a tough slate down the stretch.
With LSU picking up its
third loss of the season, the College Football Playoff is a long shot. Still, LSU has an outside chance if the Tigers can find a way to win out and beat Texas and Tennessee.
