LSU football got a spark from a veteran transfer wide receiver during its blowout win over Texas A&M on Saturday. Jackson Harris recorded his best showing with the Tigers so far and impressed head coach Lane Kiffin.
"I had talked a lot with Jackson this week, even right after warm-ups as we were out there, you know, about really stepping up," Kiffin said. "He had really done really well. He just hadn't gotten many opportunities."
Going into the contest against the Aggies, Harris had five catches for 117 yards through three games. The former All-Mountain West first-teamer exceeded both marks, leading all pass catchers with 163 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday. Quarterback Sam Leavitt hit him five times for catches of 15 yards or more.
On the
year, Harris has 22 targets and 11 catches for 280 yards. LSU needed the production from the redshirt junior transfer out of Hawaii with Trey'Dez Green out indefinitely. Kiffin praised Harris' effort and offensive coordinator Charlie Weis' game plan to get him involved.
"It was awesome to see, and a lot of those plays were kind of similar, you know, type of play action, Trey'Dez type of plays," Kiffin said. "Charlie did a really good job of, you know, really probably the number one weapon and targets by far in Trey'Dez of not having him and really trying to play out of four receiver sets and some different things."
