LSU women's basketball begins its 2026-27 campaign on Monday night, hosting Southeastern Louisiana for a nonconference game in Baton Rouge.
Expectations are high for Kim Mulkey's squad, which begins the year ranked No. 9 in the AP Poll. LSU fell in the Sweet 16 last year, falling short of the Elite 8 runs of prior seasons. LSU hopes it has the talent to make a Final Four run for the first time since 2023.
LSU is headlined by its star guard duo of Mikaylah Williams and MiLaysia Fulwiley. Williams enters her senior campaign after three strong years in Kim Mulkey's program, and has a chance to leave LSU as one of the best players in program history.
LSU should handle SE Louisiana with ease. Mulkey's Tigers typically don't waste time putting lesser
opponents away. This will be one of two games LSU plays this week, with a date vs. Texas Southern slated for Nov. 5.
