But before we fully move on to the showdown in Oxford, let's take a look at some key stats from LSU's blowout win over the Bulldogs. The first half wasn't pretty as the offense struggled to get going. The Tigers turned the ball over four times, including three interceptions thrown by QB Sam Leavitt.
Blake Baker's defense was dominant. At halftime, Louisiana Tech had negative total yardage and no first downs. Now through two games, LSU has only allowed 285 yards. Linebacker TJ Dottery had another big night, leading the team with seven tackles.

Linebacker TJ Dottery was the best defender on the field for LSU. After a standout performance vs. Clemson in Week 1, Dottery followed it up with another big game. Dottery led LSU with a 95.1 PFF defensive grade, notching four stops and two pressures.
I thought Dottery was up and down at Ole Miss in 2025. But so far, I think Baker's LSU scheme is a perfect fit for the linebacker. Baker is letting Dottery use his speed and athleticism. Dottery is playing a more attacking style, and it's paying off. Dottery's transfer addition has been huge for LSU's defense so far.
LSU held Louisiana Tech to a 14.3% success rate
Louisiana Tech's success rate was just 14.3%. For an offense, that's really, really bad. Which means it was an elite mark for LSU's defense. That's the best defensive success rate LSU has posted across the last six seasons. LSU was dominant from start to finish.
LSU only allowed 140 total yards and eight first downs. LSU has only allowed 285 combined yards vs. Clemson and Louisiana Tech. LSU will face a higher-quality offense when it travels to Ole Miss next week, but LSU has done what its supposed to do vs. inferior offenses so far.
Louisiana Tech had -3 rushing yards
More on LSU's defensive dominance. LSU held Louisiana Tech to -3 rushing yards. The negative total stems from sacks counting against rushing yards, but the sack-adjusted rushing numbers weren't much better for the Bulldogs.
LSU's defensive front was active, with Deuce Geralds and Princewill Umanmielen both posting four stops. Whit Weeks and Ty Benefield were involved, too, combining for six stops.
LSU had a 49% success rate when running the ball
Per GameOnPaper, LSU posted a 49% success rate when running the ball. LSU struggled to establish the run in the first half, but the Tigers stuck with it and finished the night with over 200 rushing yards when adjusted for yards lost on sacks.
LSU averaged over five yards per carry and Dilin Jones finished the night with 18 carries for 90 yards. Stacy Gage carried the ball four times and had 20 yards.
Trey'Dez Green: 104 receiving yards
Trey'Dez Green had one of the best games of his career on Saturday night, catching six passes for 104 yards and a touchdown. LSU's offense needed it. Despite the inconsistent night for Leavitt, the 6-foot-7 Green proved to be a reliable target for the LSU quarterback.
Green was preseason first-team All-SEC and is expected to be one of the top pass catchers in the SEC as conference play gets underway.
