Injury news continues to pile up for LSU football after its loss to Ole Miss. Head coach Lane Kiffin said Sunday that Phillip Wright will not return in 2026 because of a season-ending injury. The wide receiver was listed as out on the injury report all week ahead of Week 3.
Wright suffered a leg injury late in the Week 2 game against Louisiana Tech. Reports indicate it occurred late in the game during punt coverage. After going down, he jogged to the locker room and came back out wearing a compression sleeve from his knee to his ankle.
The redshirt freshman is one of multiple injured players on the LSU roster. DaShawn Spears also suffered a season-ending injury after he left the game against Ole Miss, while Trey'Dez Green is expected to miss multiple games.
He was carted to the locker room in Oxford after injuring his knee. Here is what Kiffin said about Wright on Sunday.

“Losing Philly really hurt. Another season-ending injury. He was really coming along with certain design plays for him,” Kiffin said.
Wright was the only LSU receiver who caught a pass in 2025 to return to the team in 2026.
