Kate Koval found her next school. The former LSU women's basketball forward will play for Baylor during the 2026-27 season, according to a social media post by the team on Saturday.

The announcement follows the NCAA's Thursday decision to grant Koval a legislative relief waiver, allowing her to enter the transfer portal. She is immediately eligible to play for the Bears, head coach Kim Mulkey's former program, after leaving Baton Rouge in August.

Koval's abrupt departure stemmed from a signing Mulkey made in August. LSU signed Russian forward Anna Minaeva in April. In a statement after news broke of her departure, Koval said she had no intention of leaving LSU but learned of Minaeva's addition after the portal closed. Koval hails from Ukraine,

and her father serves in the country's military.

After spending her sophomore season with the Tigers, Koval was set for an increased workload at the starting five spot. She averaged 8.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, made 17 starts, and played in every game.
