A former LSU football wide receiver has a new home in the NFL as the New England Patriots dealt Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans. In return for Boutte, the Texans sent safety Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round pick.
Boutte is entering his fourth year in the league and his 2025 season was a career year. Boutte caught 42 passes for 719 yards and seven touchdowns. He was one of the most productive players on the Pats offense, but New England wanted to go in a different direction.
When speaking with reporters, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said Boutte probably would have been a healthy scratch on game days thanks to the depth New England has at the position. In Houston, Boutte will have a better chance to factor into the offense.
Boutte spent three
years at LSU (2020-22). In 2020, he set the SEC's single-game receiving yards record with 308 yards vs. Ole Miss. In 2021, Boutte was off to a hot start with the Tigers, but an injury cut his season short. Boutte's 2022 was up and down and he finished his LSU career with 130 catches for 1,776 yards and 16 touchdowns.
