LSU football was ranked No. 7 in the US LBM Coaches Poll after a Week 2 win over Louisiana Tech. LSU played a sloppy football game in the first half, but the Tigers still jumped a spot in the rankings thanks to Oregon's fall. The Ducks were upset by Oklahoma State. LSU received one first-place vote.
The Texas Longhorns rose to the top after beating Ohio State on Saturday night. Ohio State, last week's No. 1, fell to No. 6. Texas, Georgia, Notre Dame, Indiana, and Miami form the top five. That makes Georgia and Texas the only two SEC teams ahead of LSU.
LSU is 2-0 after beating Clemson 51-10 in Week 1 and beating Louisiana Tech 45-14 in Week 2. LSU's defense has been dominant so far, only allowing a combined 285 yards across both games.
LSU's next
opponent, Ole Miss, is ranked No. 9 in the poll. That makes LSU's Week 3 game a top-10 matchup. It's one of the most anticipated games of the year as LSU head coach Lane Kiffin returns to Oxford to face his old team.
