Former LSU football star Jamal Adams will miss the entire 2026 NFL season. The Minnesota Vikings placed the defender on IR after he suffered a knee injury in a preseason game vs. the Giants.
Adams played safety at LSU and for most of his NFL career, but had recently converted to linebacker with the Raiders in 2025. That's the position Adams was set to play for the Vikings as he readied for his 10th year in the NFL. Adams was projected to be a depth piece for Minnesota.
Adams was drafted No. 6 overall by the New York Jets in 2017. He earned First-Team All-Pro honors in 2019 and made the second team in 2018 and 2020. The Jets traded Adams to the Seahawks, where he played from 2020 to 2023.
Adams, who was at LSU from 2014-16, is one of the best defenders
in program history. He joined the Tigers as a five-star recruit and was a key piece of some shutdown defenses. With Adams leading the way in 2016, LSU's defense was among the best in the country.

Adams was on the tail end of his NFL career before this injury, so it's tough to know what the future holds should Adams elect to try and play in 2027.
