We're entering the final stretch of the college football regular season. As the calendar prepares to flip to November, the playoff race is heating up.
Most SEC teams have played two-thirds of their regular season schedule, including Lane Kiffin's LSU Tigers, who are 6-2 heading into the bye week.
As the postseason race takes shape, it's time to check in on every SEC team's chances of making the College Football Playoff. I've taken odds from FanDuel and DraftKings, converted the numbers into implied probabilities, and created a composite number.
Georgia leads the way with a 92.5% chance of making the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs have only one loss and still have room for error down the stretch.
Beyond Georgia, the picture gets complicated.
Alabama, LSU, and Texas are two, three, and four, all with a better than 50% chance of making the playoff. However, the chance all three make it is slim.
LSU still has to play Alabama and Texas. If LSU wins both, Alabama and Texas face an uphill battle. If LSU drops either of those games, LSU's path gets a lot harder.
Ole Miss, despite the loss to Texas, is still sitting around 48.9%. The Rebels have only two losses and still have chances to beef up their resume. Pete Golding's team still controls its own destiny.
