LSU football's Week 1 opponent, the Clemson Tigers, will have a new quarterback in 2026. And as kickoff grows near, Dabo Swinney's QB1 is becoming apparent.
By all accounts, Christopher Vizzina will be the guy when Clemson takes the field at LSU. CBSSports' Matt Zenitz reported that Vizzina "continues to be the favorite in the Clemson quarterback competition."
Vizzina signed with Clemson in 2023. He was a four-star and rated as a top-100 overall recruit in the class. He waited his turn, backing up Cade Klubnik for three years. Vizzina made one start in 2025, getting the nod vs. SMU in Week 8. Vizzina completed 29 of 42 passes for 317 yards and three scores in that outing. It was a solid day vs. a strong SMU defense, especially for someone making
his first career start.
Vizzina will be tested at LSU. Tiger Stadium is one of the toughest enviroments in the sport and LSU's passing defense figures to be top notch.

At corner, LSU returns DJ Pickett and PJ Woodland. Both of those guys can play man coverage, which will allow LSU DC Blake Baker to open up the blitz playbook.
