LSU football reportedly might get one of its defensive leaders back ahead of its next game. CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported Wednesday that Whit Weeks may make his return to practice and be ready for the Tigers' game against Alabama.
During the purple and gold's game against Texas A&M, Weeks left during the third quarter. The broadcast showed him wearing a boot and walking with crutches to the locker room. It was later revealed that the linebacker fractured his right leg.
Through four games, Weeks has 23 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, a pass breakup, and a pass deflection. A preseason coaches' All-SEC selection, Weeks returned for his senior year after suffering a season-ending ankle injury eight games into 2025.
An update on LSU star LB Whit
Weeks, who suffered a leg fracture Sept. 26: Has continued to make good progress and may be able to return to practice next week, sources tell @CBSSports. Even possible he could end up returning to game action as soon as next week vs. Alabama. https://t.co/MkYM6QSEex pic.twitter.com/niQWGco8me

Across three complete seasons in Baton Rouge, Weeks made 228 tackles, including 19 for loss and five sacks, and recorded one interception. He is one of the SEC's most experienced linebackers.
Alabama QB Keelon Russell can hurt defenses with his arm and his legs. Weeks has top-notch athleticism for the linebacker position, and his return would certainly boost Blake Baker's unit.
